Madison's Dad 

The above story is the children's story I wrote. It's very realistic, but I was still inspired stylistically by Louis Sachar's Wayside School stories, which are a personal favorite of mine, and Robert Munsch's short stories, especially Stephanie's Ponytail, which is another personal favorite. 

For this story's moral, I was inspired by my own life as well as a story told by my pastor at RUF in Clemson, Reid. 

I'm actually more proud of it looking back than when I first wrote it, which is unusual for me. Usually, I don't like looking at my old work. 

God's will be done. God take care of us all.

Atla Short Story

This is a repost of a post from my art blog. Atla Short Story Slight content warning. This story includes violence, gun violence, violence nearby a school, and child endangerment, though no children are harmed. There's also the use of minor swears like "shit." If you watch Marvel films, you're probably fine.  So I've been working on this short story for a while now. I had the initial inspiration for it earlier this spring. I was exploring a feeling I had that the main character shares. Overall, I'm very happy with how it turned out. The climax is resolved through sacrifice and compassion instead of violence, which is important to me. One of my favorite ways stories can cause a turning point is when one character teaches another character something they need to change about themselves. It feels very natural to the real world.   Janet of the Last Monastery (Prologue Story) Abbess Janet of the Last Monastery These two stories are stories I wrote for a class in 2022. I was inspired initially by a description in Andre Norton's "The Toads of Grimmerdale", which we read for class. I was also primarily inspired by the animated film The Secret of Kells . As a warning to parents, I should note there is some violence in these stories and the mention of blood. When I presented the first draft to my class, they all wanted to know more about the Gloom Sisters. I knew the backstory of the Gloom Sisters myself, but I hadn't included it because I didn't think it was important.
