Atla Short Story

Image
This is a repost of a post from my art blog. Atla Short Story Slight content warning. This story includes violence, gun violence, violence nearby a school, and child endangerment, though no children are harmed. There's also the use of minor swears like "shit." If you watch Marvel films, you're probably fine.  So I've been working on this short story for a while now. I had the initial inspiration for it earlier this spring. I was exploring a feeling I had that the main character shares. Overall, I'm very happy with how it turned out. The climax is resolved through sacrifice and compassion instead of violence, which is important to me. One of my favorite ways stories can cause a turning point is when one character teaches another character something they need to change about themselves. It feels very natural to the real world. I also like the foreshadowing and the character development I manged to squeeze into this short story.   Here's the origi...

Abbess Janet of the Last Monastery

Janet of the Last Monastery (Prologue Story) Abbess Janet of the Last Monastery These two stories are stories I wrote for a class in 2022. I was inspired initially by a description in Andre Norton's "The Toads of Grimmerdale", which we read for class. I was also primarily inspired by the animated film The Secret of Kells . As a warning to parents, I should note there is some violence in these stories and the mention of blood. When I presented the first draft to my class, they all wanted to know more about the Gloom Sisters. I knew the backstory of the Gloom Sisters myself, but I hadn't included it because I didn't think it was important. In the final draft, I wrote it out, providing the creepiest part of the entire story.  Some readers might recognize the influence of Samurai Jack 's Daughters of Aku in the Gloom Sisters. I was also inspired by the obsidian weapons of Pitch Black's army in William Joyce's E. Aster Bunnymund and the Warrior E...

Madison's Dad

Madison's Dad  The above story is the children's story I wrote. It's very realistic, but I was still inspired stylistically by Louis Sachar's Wayside School stories, which are a personal favorite of mine, and Robert Munsch's short stories, especially Stephanie's Ponytail , which is another personal favorite.  For this story's moral, I was inspired by my own life as well as a story told by my pastor at RUF in Clemson, Reid.  I'm actually more proud of it looking back than when I first wrote it, which is unusual for me. Usually, I don't like looking at my old work.  God's will be done. God take care of us all.

Computer Science Creative Expressions

This is a repost of some of the short stories that I wrote for one of my last undergraduate computer science classes, in 2020. We were required to create a "Creative Expression" which demonstrated that we understood the material. So, I decided to write short stories illustrating a concept I had learned in class. Finally, I've decided to include them on this blog, because I like some of the elements in them. They were each written with different age groups in mind. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1At0eOBN243Llmiq1iN4C_Enl5FJcvM5v/view?usp=sharing   This is the first story I wrote for class. This story was principally inspired by the Sir Cumference book series that my 3rd Grade teacher introduced me too. I always enjoyed them, and I was inspired by the idea of teaching math through a fantasy world. So, I took inspiration from that series when writing this short story. I also wrote it with my 8-year-old self in mind, though it could be for younger ages. I used Adob...

Unmasking Draft

I've been wanting to share some of my writing with people, and I've had difficulty finding all the examples on my art blog that I wanted to share. So, I decided to make a  This is a repost of the first draft of my script for Unmasking. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rfp5gk-QMfVOjh0gEse_v2Fnulm7hYYW/view?usp=sharing It's a script I made for Screenwriting class in 2020. There are several mistakes with the script. It needs to be separated into two episodes, and some of the scenes and dialogue are just awkward. Still, I think it's not bad for a first draft.  Here's the original post: http://wilmeade.blogspot.com/2020/07/unmasking-draft.html God, I love you. I trust you. Please make happen what you want to happen.
